How to think more strategically: Collaborative Intelligence H+AI: Example (Part 2)
There is a level of action you need to take to ensure you think more strategically.
We build our strategic thinking muscle using a range of techniques and tools as outlined in my book Spark Change.
The eighth Spark I’d like to introduce you to is Collaborative Intelligence H+AI. Let’s share with you an example.
How to think more strategically: how to use ‘Collaborative Intelligence H+AI’
So, how do we unlock the power H+AI has?
Here is an introductory method that I often use with this Spark:
- Rally the humans: Get the right minds into the room to work together to agree on the right question! Then agree what information and data is needed to answer this question. Finally, ask the collective mind to develop a hypothesis solution to start with.
- Gather data with AI: Use AI tools to do research, and to gather and analyse data. For instance, AI can go beyond databases and find articles, sift through social media and locate big data sets.
- Ask the AI for a hypothesis and strategies to address.
- Re-inject human analysis and interpretation: The strategy team reviews the AI-generated data. They bring their industry knowledge, understanding of company values and experience to interpret this data.
- Scenario planning: Combine AI’s predictive models with team brainstorming to explore expansion strategies. AI can simulate various scenarios based on the identified trend, while the team contributes creative ideas and considers practical implications.
- Decision-making: Use both AI insights and human judgement to decide on the best course of action.
- Implementation and feedback loop: Implement the strategy and use AI to monitor its effectiveness, adjusting based on real-time data and team evaluations.
How to think more strategically: build this thinking muscle
Here are some ways to build this Spark muscle:
- Continuous learning in AI trends: Stay abreast of the latest developments in AI technology and applications. Engaging with current research, attending relevant webinars and subscribing to tech journals can keep you informed.
- AI workshops and training: Enrol in workshops or online courses focusing on AI and its strategic applications. This hands-on experience will deepen your understanding of AI capabilities.
- Collaboration with AI experts: Establish connections with AI professionals. Their insights can provide practical perspectives on integrating AI into strategic planning effectively.
- AI-Powered analytics tools: Regularly use AI-driven data analysis tools in your strategic planning. Familiarity with these tools will enhance your ability to interpret and utilise AI-generated insights.
- Critical thinking and interpretation skills: Strengthen your critical thinking abilities to effectively interpret AI data and insights within the context of your strategic objectives.
- Simulated strategic scenarios: Engage in simulated exercises that combine AI data with strategic decision-making. This practice can enhance your ability to integrate AI insights into real-world scenarios.
By adopting these methods, you’ll not only deepen your understanding of AI’s role in strategic thinking, but also refine your ability to synergise AI capabilities with your strategic acumen.
