Meet LEVNT as they innovate their Strategic Planning

A Journey of Value Proposition Discovery and Strategic Excellence

This is the story of LEVNT’s recent Strategic Planning approach which was truly agile and refreshing. Lutheran Education Victoria, New South Wales & Tasmania (LEVNT) supports 19 schools and a growing suite of Early Childhood Services spanning metropolitan, regional and rural communities across three states.

Executive Director Dr Colin Minke leads the regional office that recruits and mentors principals, guides boards on governance and risk, and shapes strategy and curriculum. LEVNT’s team of advisers also deliver professional learning, formation programs and compliance oversight, while its business-services arm covers finance, HR, property, industrial relations and enterprise bargaining.

Regular network forums and micro-credentials keep leaders connected, ensuring resilient, values-anchored education for more than 8,700 students and their families

Challenge: Navigating Complexity and Articulating Value

While LEVNT possessed a passionate team and a compelling history, they also faced significant challenges:

  • An intuition of where they needed to go and grow, but not yet clarity on strategic priorities across the organisation.
  • Evolving value proposition for the schools they supported
  • Varied capability in strategic thinking

LEVNT knew that to achieve their Purpose, they needed to realign their strategy, articulate their value, and invest in strategic thinking capability building.

Our Approach: Strategy Development, Value Proposition Discovery & Capability Building

We believe in a partnership approach that goes beyond surface-level fixes. Our collaboration with LEVNT was rooted in co-design, transparency, and a relentless focus on driving impact. The engagement unfolded in three core phases:

1. Strategic Planning

Our strategic planning process began with engagement. We worked side-by-side with the LEVNT leadership team, facilitating workshops, stakeholder interviews, and market analyses to build a shared understanding of the organisation’s aspirations and current state.

The result was a comprehensive strategic plan, owned by the entire leadership team, that provided clarity, alignment, and direction.

2. Unearthing the Value Proposition

A standout feature was the strategy process agility of LEVNT and its leadership. When they realised that an aligned understanding of what schools and stakeholders actually value needed updating, there was no hesitation or pause; they deeply engaged and then took stock: Value drives strategy and they understood this.

We leveraged our value proposition framework in a series of interactive sessions:

  • Stakeholder Mapping: Identified and prioritised key customer segments, partners, and influencers.
  • Customer Insights: Conducted interviews and surveys to capture voice-of-customer data and validate assumptions.
  • Co-Creation Workshops: Engaged cross-functional teams in ideation, scenario planning, and narrative development.
  • Distillation: Synthesised findings to articulate LEVNT’s unique promise—the intersection of what they do best and what their customers value most.

This rigorous process clarified LEVNT’s value add and empowered them with messaging that resonates.

3. Strategic Thinking Capability Building Through the Work and Masterclasses

Recognising that strategic planning is not a one-off event, we shifted our focus to embedding strategic thinking skills across the organisation. We designed a program that involved capability building at each step and we complimented this with a tailored series of masterclasses, bringing together theory and practice in an engaging, hands-on format.

Results: Alignment and Strategic Momentum

Our integrated approach delivered tangible outcomes for LEVNT:

  • Strategic Clarity: The organisation now operates with a clear roadmap, shared purpose, and measurable priorities.
  • Distinctive Value Proposition: LEVNT’s refined messaging cuts through the noise and attracts the right partners.
  • Enhanced Strategic Capability: Teams are equipped with strategic thinking skills, fostering a culture of curiosity and proactive problem-solving.
  • Increased Buy-In: Engagement across all levels of the organisation resulted in faster strategy adoption and alignment.
Conclusion: Partnering for Strategic Success

The LEVNT case is a testament to the power of a rigorous, participative approach to strategy development, value proposition discovery, and capability building. By working hand-in-hand and focusing on both immediate outcomes and long-term capacity, we set LEVNT up for sustained growth and impact.
